  It sounds to me like the sensors are bad. To check for a bad sensor, disconnect the sensor and check for continuity with a multimeter like # PT89ZR. The sensor is normally a closed switch and should have continuity without the magnet present and should not have continuity when the magnet is placed near the sensor. Replacement sensors would have to be acquired directly from Aries.

  What's interesting about LED lights is that since they draw such a low amount of amperage they can sometimes light up if there's just a tiny bit of bleed through current on the power circuit that previously wasn't seen.   Thank you for your purchase directly from etrailer of the Aries ActionTrac Motorized Running Boards # AA3036571. If the driver's side step won't retract the issue could be a sensor somehow got dirty or moved so try wiping it with an alcohol wipe. The other issue could be a magnet got misaligned.
